Hall#11. Battle For The Dnipro River. Liberation Of Kyiv
The battle for the Dnipro and Kyiv is one of the most epic and tragic pages in the history of Ukraine. The warriors had to force the river without tanks and heavy artillery support, under enemy's fire.
At the center of the hall there is the Fording of Dnipro diorama showing pontoons and fishermen boats the soldiers used to ford the river with the support of local inhabitants in the fall of 1943. Archive documents and personal effects and IDs of warriors of different nationalities tell about liberation of the Left Bank Ukraine, about approach of the 750 km front of Soviet soldiers to the Dnipro, and assault crossing of this water obstacle and liberation of the Ukrainian capital on 6 November 1943.
